I will make this short.
Andrew has not been well. He is always in pain. Since he entered the MTC, he has had, oh my goodness, I can't even count all the doctor's appointments he's had. I carry his pain day by day, week by week, month by month, not having the assurance that he will get better the next time I hear from him. This past year has been a a test of our faith.
He emails everyone every Monday as if he is completely free from pain, because he is such a happy and energetic person, he is so good at hiding it. It's painful to know that he is in pain, and worse, that he is not getting any better and there is nothing I can do about it. I talked to his parents to find comfort and they have been one of my source of strength.
Tomorrow, he will have another appointment with his gastroenterologist. He has tried so many medical options possible, but to no avail. He is still not getting any better.
Andrew is an amazing example of what a true disciple of Christ really is. He has been fighting against all odds to stay, regardless of how hard it is for him to wake up every day and to struggle through the day. He has a strong testimony of the gospel, which is the very reason why he left all that he loved and sacrificed to be on the Lord's errand. He is not the boy I used to know anymore. He has changed into the man I always hoped he would become- A man of God. Truly he is.
I am writing this not to get any pity parties from you, but to get prayers. If you are going to the temple, please take his name with you.
I wish there was more I could do to take away his pain, but really all I have left now is hope. And your prayers.
I know God will sustain him and lift him up. I have poured out my heart to Him and trust Him in His plans.
I love Andrew more than anything.
